THE CROSS, NORTH LONDON

Architect: Satellite Design Workshop

The radical form of this office extension has been determined by the need to preserve 'rights to light' of an adjacent chapel.  The designers sought to wrap the simple internal office layout iwth a skin of pre-patinated copper which folds over the end facade and continues on up to form a new roofscape.  The judges considered this design to be an inspirational response to a difficult, irregular site and the proposed use of copper particularly appropriate to its folded form.
