THE PRINCE REGENT'S DOME, LONDON

Contractor: CEL

Architect: CB Hillier Parker

Owner: The Crown Estates

Constructed in 1898, this is probably London's largest copper dome and needed complete replacement due to substate failure resulting from faults in the original installation.  The original appearance has been carefully maintained whilst correcting defective details to ensure at least another 100 years' life for this landmark.

The roof contains many extremely difficult details, all of which were examined at close quarters.  The judges considered the workmanship to be faultless and the dome a fine example of what can be achieved when traditional skills, good research, design and management come together.
