| A new complex to provide an Assembly Hall, Theatre and associated facilities, this building's design generated a central circular form surmounted by a cupola and enveloped by other curved roofs. Copper was selected as the most appropriate material for continuity throughout roof planes, cladding and flashings, as well as gutters and downpipes. The Craftsmanship judges selected this project for its consistent, exemplary standard of workmanship, directly related to today's accepted detailing techniques. Details highlighted by the judges include the flattening of standing seams where abutting cladding at an angle, to avoid any water trap. Longitudinal joints and trays of each ascending roof section are all aligned, demonstrating real care and attention to detail.
